Description

The eastern white pine is a native species and the state tree of Michigan. It is tall and straight stemmed. It has five needles per cluster that are long and soft. Deer will browse the needles during winter when food is scarce. Also used for timber. White pine is a good nesting tree for birds and provides winter cover for birds, including wild turkey, and mammals.
