This shade tree has been heavily planted as an ornamental in many urban areas because of its ease of transplanting and establishment, adaptability to a wide range of sites, rapid growth, and good form. It will tolerate very poor soil conditions and harsh urban environments. Silver maple is a great food source for many birds, squirrels, beavers, deer, and rabbits. Is also a good timber source.
