Restore Community in Your Yard with Native Plants

April 11 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

This workshop will focus on enhancing biodiversity to create healthy habitats in the soil and landscape where you live. Participants will learn about many of the grasses, wildflowers and shrubs found in Kent County and will be shown how to design with them for rich and beautiful displays that will not only impress the neighbors but will beckon butter-flies, birds and bees to visit!
Particular attention will be given to the plants that will be available to order from our upcoming Native Plant Sale. We will discuss the major plant communities that were historically found in Kent County, and go over plant species that are best for various soil and light conditions. Get ready to learn about spring ephemerals, woodland ground-covers and the important layers typically found in a healthy plant community.
Presenters are native plant educators, landscape designers, master gardeners/master naturalists and founders of www.nativeplantguild.com.
Rebecca Marquardt is a naturalist, landscape architect and owner of Revery
Amy Heilman is the owner of native plant landscaping of The Living Garden
$10 fee collected at the door. Funds go back to help with this year’s native plant sale.
