A Full List of Our Upcoming Events

We apologize for technical issues on our website recently, we are improving !! Check out the calendar to the right by rolling over a highlighted date to see what’s going on in conservation in Kent County.

Our Fall Tree Sale is coming up! Plan your garden for next spring and give the plants a headstart by planting this fall. Many conifer species along with others will be available. If you have a specific request, please email us at: administrator@kentconservation.org. The Conservation District loves our native Michigan plants, trees and bugs, so we hope to continue increasing the variety that makes West Michigan home. These Michigan plants can be hard to find, but KCD makes them easily available to gardeners, bugs and birds! Please do what you can to provide habitat and beauty in our Michigan landscape.

Connecting Families With Nature Passport

The Kent Conservation District has enjoyed partnering with six environmental education organizations - including our own Howard Christensen Nature Center- to form a network of organizations and resources for families to reconnect with their natural world. The Passport Program will conclude on September 25 with a celebration at John Ball Zoo. Remember to complete your passport for a free ticket and special behind-the-scenes event starting at 9a.m. !! This will be a fun day for kids and families with crafts, door prizes, music and animals ! We believe that the next generation of conservationists will come from children who have had positive out-of-doors experiences with those closest to them.
