Mission Statement
The mission of the Howard Christensen Nature Center is to advocate, teach, promote and facilitate those practices which protect, conserve, enhance, and restore our natural resources for the citizens of Kent County and future generations.

- Thank you HCNC Supporters Thank you to all of those who have helped us over the past year in getting the HCNC reopened.

- Registration now for school group tours. A link to the registration form can be found under the Programs heading and Environmental Education tab.

- Trails are open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. Trail maps are available to print under the Maps heading. Welcome Center bathrooms are closed for the winter.

- Family focused weekend activities You and your family can take part in activities at the Nature Center. Check out the activities page under the events section of this site for more information about these events.

- The Howard Christensen Nature Center (HCNC) is managed by the Kent Conservation District. Visit www.kentconservation.org for more information.


- Volunteers are needed for trail and facility maintenance, public relations and more. Please call to offer your services. We have the right job for anyone on any schedule.
